# Secret Service working with Circle to freeze and recover funds stolen from Binance

UPDATE: The US Secret Service now confirms it's working with private-sector partners, including Circle, to identify, freeze, trace and recover the funds stolen from Binance.

It's also coordinating with the US Attorney's Office for the District of Columbia to identify the hackers.

This morning the federal probe rested on a single Reuters source. Now it's on the record, while Binance withdrawals stay off and about $3B of the $6.3B haul sits frozen.
